In this Article you will learn step by step, how to install garbage disposal machine. I will explain top to bottom everything. OK, Lets start.
Bellow the equipment and materials that you will need to install a garbage disposal machine.
Materials:
Plumber’s putty
Garbage disposal Machine
Electrical tape
Wire nuts
Wide rubber band
Electrical caps
Tools:
Step 1-Turn power off and remove drain lines:
Make sure you have enough space under the sink to set a garbage disposal. Then turn off the power line at the breaker. Remove the drain line. Place a torn to prevent leakage at the main drain.
Loose the large nut on the base of the sink flange, then let it fall down.
To remove the strainer body pushes it through the sink.
Step 2-Clear the putty and loosen the screws:
Use the screwdriver carefully to clear all the putty from sink opening. Use a torn to fully clear the old putty and make sure that none of the putty is left. Turn the mounting assembly over, and then loosen all the mounting screws using a screwdriver and your finger until you get the snap ring.
Step 3-Remove the snap ring:
Separate the snap ring off the sink flange, using screwdriver. All mounting assembly will visible now. Carefully separate all the parts and don’t damage the fiber gasket.
Step 4-Apply putty:
Roll a large amount of plumber’s putty around the sink opening. Then press it securely into place. Now enter the fiber gasket and then metal backup ring over the sink flange.
Step 5-place the mounting ring over the flange:
Hold the fiber gasket and backup ring while entering the mounting ring over the sink flange. Make sure it seats against the backup ring.
To hold the parts in place, use a wide rubber band around the flange.
Step 6-Install the snap ring:
Install the snap ring by sliding it up the sink flange until it pops into the groove.
Note: Remove the rubber before use. Until the whole assembly is tight, keeps it tightening, even against the sink.
Note: Clean up additional putty that has oozed out from the sink flange.
Step 7-Push the plug:
Knock out the plug, before connecting the dishwasher line. Turn your disposal on its side, then push into the plug by using a flat head screw driver. At last, give it a few taps all the way around causing the plug to down inside the unit.
Step 8-Retrieve the Plug:
Turn the unit upright and take away the gasket and ring. Turn the unit upside down once more, and recover the plug. Turn the unit upright, then change the ring and gasket. Identify the electrical hole, and insert a wire clamp.
Step 9-Remove the Access Hole Cover:
Safety note: Be sure at first, power is turn off before touching body. Eliminate the screw that holds the access hole cover at the bottom of the disposal system. Eliminate the cover, and take out the disposal wires.
Step 10-Connect and Secure the Wires:
Place the electrical wire into the wire clamp that was put in earlier. Once within the access hole, connect the black wire to black and also the white wire to the opposite white wire. Using ware nuts secure the ware together. Also you can use electrical tape to attach the wire nuts to the wires. Hook-up the ground wire.
Step 11- Push the Wires into the Access Hole
If everything is hooked up, put the wires into the access hole and change the cover securing it with a screw. Tighten down the electrical clamp.
Step 12-Mount the Disposal System
Drive the disposal unit and insert the top end of the mounting gasket into the mounting assembly. Turn the lower mounting ring to the right until the mounting tabs feel snug. Use adjustable pliers to lock the tabs over the ridges.
Step 13- Install the Drain Lines
To installing the drain lines, attach the P-trap to the tailpiece and trap arm. Put the discharge tube into the T fitting. Don’t fully tighten the slip nut. Put the other end of the discharge tube into the disposal unit. Next step, use a screwdriver to secure the metal flange using the bolt supplied with your disposal unit. Tighten all of the slip nuts
Step 14- Finish Installation
Slide the disposal unit’s bell over the disposal drain and then clamp it up. Slide the disposal bell from the dishwasher over the barbed connection on the disposal unit. Clamp the fitting securely, using a screwdriver.
